Where are you right now?
Chat and coding agent live in the same app these days. ChatGPT and Claude both put them on separate tabs, so what matters is the tab, not the app. One exception: ChatGPT's personal chat can't install skills at all, so use its Work or Codex tab.

Claude's chat and Cowork can't install a skill themselves. Paste the prompt
there and you'll get a polite "I can't do that". Upload this file instead,
under Customize → Skills → Upload skill. Don't let it talk you into
repackaging anything first; this one goes straight in. The same file works in
any other app that takes skills as an upload. It's an ordinary zip under a
.skill name, so rename it to .zip if an uploader
insists on the extension.
Either way, start a fresh session afterwards. That's when a new skill wakes up. Then next time it annoys you, type argh and it hands you the game. Done with it? Delete the skill. No accounts, no traces.
An installed skill is a copy and never updates itself. If the links you get look thin, paste the prompt again. It overwrites with the current version.
